Meet Alex & Etienne

Hello! We are Alex and Etienne. We are a same-sex couple, and we live in Montreal. We met in a New Year’s Eve party 10 years ago and we’ve been together ever since.
We’ve talked about having children early in our relationship and started gathering information and attending conferences 4 years ago. In the last 18 months we created 3 embryos with an egg donor and our fertility clinic (Anova Fertility Clinic). The embryos are healthy and are ready to be used. Our journey up to this point had some ups and downs but we always remained confident and positive because we knew that it was all worth it. We are so ready for this chapter of our life to begin, and we hope that you’ll consider us!
Alex is Tunisian. He came to Canada when he was 7 years old with his older sister and parents. His father is a scientist and his mother is an informatician. Alex is very curious, and he loves to learn new things. For example, he started learning Spanish 2 years with a private teacher and he wishes to be fluent in the next 3 years. Last summer, he started playing tennis and it’s now his favorite sport. Alex works in the healthcare field.
Etienne is French-Canadian and has 2 sisters and one brother. He grew up in a small town on the south shore of Quebec City. His father was a butcher and Etienne worked in the family business all this youth. As a young teen he was already planning dinners and cooking for a family of six by himself. It’s not surprising that he became a chef, and he worked for the best restaurants in Montreal early in his career. Now he is a chef and a food stylist for a magazine (Ricardo Media), creating recipes that are used by thousands of families every year. Etienne is creative and detail oriented. He discovered gardening few years ago and became a plant expert within few months.
We both share a passion for music. Alex is an excellent clarinetist, and every member of Alex’s family plays an instrument. We hope to communicate this interest to our child.
We both grew up with strong family values that we cherish deeply. We hope our child will share those values growing up. In June 2019, we bought our house with two extra bedrooms in the Italian neighborhood in Montreal. It’s a lovely neighborhood surrounded by parks and schools. It’s a perfect environment to raise a family.
Finally, one thing that is very important to us is to create memories with our surrogate during the process. Twenty-five or thirty years from now, we want our surrogate to look back at her experience with us as a beautiful memory. Knowing that she changed our lives forever in the best way possible.
