Meet Our Intended Parents

Meet Josephine & Emil
Location: Hillerød, Denmark
Watch our video:
We are a small Danish family: Emil (35), Josephine (31), and our son Anton (2). A year ago, we moved from Copenhagen to a house in Hillerød, where we love the peace and quiet, having more space for Anton, and being close to nature. Emil works as an engineer, Josephine is a physiotherapist, and Anton goes to nursery.
We met in 2020 during COVID. Our first date was at Kronborg Castle, where we spent three hours walking around wearing face masks. The chemistry was there straight away, and a few months later, Emil moved to Copenhagen to be closer to Josephine. Since then, we’ve experienced a bit of everything together – from living in a tiny one-bedroom apartment and renovating a home to travelling around Australia and New Zealand for three months and becoming parents to Anton.
Our days are mostly spent playing with Anton, making dinner and getting him ready for bed. Once he’s asleep, we enjoy playing a board game, taking a walk in the garden, watching TV (usually lifestyle reality shows), or simply relaxing and talking about our day and the silly things Anton has been up to.
We love spending time with family and friends, and we are lucky that many of our friends also have children around Anton’s age. Josephine’s family lives in Copenhagen, while Emil’s family lives in Northern Jutland, around a five-hour drive away. Grandma Bernadette picks Anton up from nursery once a week and absolutely loves it. He is the first grandchild on Josephine’s side of the family, and you can definitely tell We usually visit Emil’s family for a couple of days each month, where Anton loves playing with his three cousins and all the toys in Grandma Britta’s playroom.
Every year, we are lucky enough to go on a one-week holiday with each of our families – this year, we spent a week in France and a week camping in Jutland. We also usually take a week away just the three of us. At Christmas, we alternate between spending the holidays with our families, and when it’s our birthdays and anniversaries, all three of us take the day off and do something fun together. The day always starts with a lovely breakfast, Danish flags and, of course, presents.
Josephine’s pregnancy with Anton was complicated, so we had check-ups twice a week. On the day we were supposed to get married, the doctors told us Anton needed to be born the following day. So we went to the town hall, got married in our nice clothes, and then headed straight to the hospital for the C-section. We’ll never forget telling our families over a video call that we had just gotten married and were going to become parents the very next day
Our biggest wish is for Anton to have a sibling to share life’s ups and downs with – just as we have been lucky enough to have growing up. We were therefore incredibly happy when Josephine became pregnant with “Little Sister”. In February 2026, when Josephine was 18 weeks pregnant, she suddenly started bleeding heavily and was rushed to hospital. The doctors diagnosed a placental abruption, and an emergency C-section was necessary to save her life. Sadly, Little Sister was far too young to survive outside the womb. Doctors have advised Josephine not to become pregnant again, as it would be too risky for both her and the baby. It’s not genetic, but simply due to the way her body responds to pregnancy. Therefore we are looking for a healthy and strong woman who would be willing to help us have another child. We have two embryos created from our own eggs and sperm and are currently awaiting the PGT-A results.
We hope this little introduction has given you an idea of who we are. Of course, it would be much easier to simply meet over a cup of coffee. Maybe we can save that for later?
Letter To Future Surrogate
Dear you,
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and thank you for considering giving us the greatest gift of all – if it wasn’t for women like you, we would have no hope of becoming parents again. You may have read our short biography and have some idea of who we are and what we have been through.
I have experienced both the greatest joy and the deepest grief imaginable. I have been lucky enough to have the sweetest, happiest and funniest little boy in the world, Anton. Sadly, I also lost my daughter in a tragic way when I was 18 weeks pregnant.
Both of my pregnancies were filled with fear and worry because my placenta grew abnormally. Anton had a difficult start to life, as he was born seven weeks early with immature lungs and needed help breathing. During my pregnancy with Little Sister, I suddenly started bleeding heavily, and she had to be born to save my life even though she wasn’t ready for a life outside my womb. Emil and I have definitely been left with scars from everything we have been through. It has made us stronger as a couple, but it has also made us worry about things we might not have worried about before. We have experienced first-hand how brutal life can be.
There is nothing I want more than to have another child. It has always been my dream to have two children. Anton is the greatest and best thing that has ever happened to us, and we so deeply hope to be given the chance to experience it all again. We thought that the dream would come true with Little Sister, but sadly, fate had other plans. I long to hold a tiny baby in my arms, take long walks with the stroller and spend hours just looking at this little person.
I’ve kept all of Anton’s clothes, toys and baby things, and I can’t wait to use them again. I look forward to being on maternity leave with our little one, picking up Anton from nursery with the stroller, and most of all, seeing him become a big brother. I’m sure he will love and protect his little brother or sister from the moment they meet.
We have friends who had both of their children through surrogacy in Canada, and they have been the people guiding us as we have tried to understand this, for us, completely new world of surrogacy. They still have a close relationship with their surrogate, and they recently told us that their surrogate and her family were coming to Denmark this summer to stay with them. We think that sounds wonderful and if you are comfortable with it, we hope to build a similar relationship with you and your family too. At least we wish to tell our children about this journey and what an amazing woman you are.
Of course, living in Denmark and having Anton makes travelling back and forth to Canada more difficult. But we are more than happy to get up in the middle of the night for a video call and support you in whatever way you need. We hope to stay in close contact throughout the pregnancy, while also respecting your need for space and your everyday life.
There is a lot at stake for us as Intended Parents. We thought it might feel easier knowing I would not have to go through another pregnancy, but it has already been an emotional journey filled with choices, hopes and dreams. More than anything, we hope to build a relationship based on trust and safety, making this journey as joyful and worry-free as possible.
With love, Josephine
