Hi, We are Ashley and Robert, married high-school sweethearts living on Vancouver Island (BC, Canada). We are so excited to begin our adventure to parenthood with the help of a surrogate, and we are grateful that you have taken the time to learn about us.

We enjoy spending time together exploring the outdoors and the simple moments of joy at home. We have grown together over these last 18 years and love to cook, hike, and boat. Most weekends you will find us walking the beach or a trail with our dogs, stopping far too often because Ashley has to pick up another interesting rock while Robert laughs that he should have brought a larger bucket.

We show up for those we love and have a large community of family and friends that look forward to loving our future child. Our child already has grandparents eager to spoil them, aunties and uncles waiting for adventures, cousins excited to play, and friends that have been cheering us on throughout this journey.

As we look ahead, we are most excited to share our enjoyment of the simple things with our child. We dream of baby cuddles and new adventures. When Robert was born his family bought a cottage on Valdes Island (a non-serviced gulf island). It became a magical place where Robert and his brother spent early childhood and countless summer days exploring. We look forward to carrying forward family traditions together, like collecting rocks on the beach, cooking messy meals, time away from screens playing in nature, learning card games, and spending time with loved ones.

Our home is filled with love. We have two small dogs Bluebell (our explorer) and an older rescue Bella (our brave, but nervous girl). Becoming parents has always been a life goal for us, but like many families, our path to parenthood has not unfolded the way we originally imagined. Along the way, Ashley faced medical challenges that eventually led us to explore surrogacy. When Ashley was in the teaching program, she became friends with an amazing human named Laura. Laura had previously worked with CFC, as a surrogate, and had helped a family to grow their family with 2 beautiful children. Although this was not the path we originally expected, meeting Laura helped us see surrogacy not as the end of one dream, but the beginning of another built on generosity, trust, and partnership.

We know that every surrogate and every family are different. We hope to build a relationship based on trust, open communication, and respect, while always following the comfort level and wishes of the incredible woman helping us grow our family. No words can fully express what this gift of being a surrogate would mean to our family. We understand that surrogacy asks a lot of a woman and her family, and we would never take that generosity for granted. We are committed to supporting and caring for our surrogate throughout the journey. Whether that means checking in, celebrating milestones together, respecting your space when you need it, or simply reminding you how appreciated you are, we want this journey to feel like a true partnership.

Our journey to parenthood has been a long one, but we have come to believe that this is a positive thing because it means that our child gets a loving and stable home where they are parented by the best versions of us. Ashley loves helping children discover that mistakes are simply part of learning, while Robert has endless patience and enjoys teaching people how things work. Together, we hope to raise a child who feels confident trying new things, knows they are deeply loved, and always feels safe being themselves.

Through everything life has brought us, we have learned to face challenges as a team. We lean on each other, communicate openly, and always try to find joy, even on the difficult days. Robert can make Ashley smile no matter the day, and Ashley has a way of making every holiday, birthday, or ordinary Tuesday feel special. We laugh a lot. Our home is not perfect, but it is full of encouragement, silly moments, and people who genuinely love being together.

This journey has taught us both patience and perspective. We do not take becoming parents for granted. Every small milestone, from hearing a heartbeat to reading bedtime stories, will be cherished because we will always remember how long we hoped for these simple moments.
