Dear Future Surrogate,
It’s hard to put into words how much it means to us that you’re even reading this letter. Just knowing that someone like you exists – someone willing to carry a child for someone else is truly humbling. Your strength, generosity and heart are nothing short of extraordinary.
We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this journey and the truth is, we don’t take any of it for granted. We know it’s not just a medical process, it’s deeply personal. It involves emotions, decisions and sacrifices that few people truly understand. Please know that we see you and we’re here for you. Not just as intended parents, but as people who want to support you in whatever way you need.
We’d love to build a relationship that feels natural and comfortable for you. Whether we connect often or just check in now and then, we want it to be guided by your preferences. You’re not just helping us have a child – you’re becoming part of a story we’ll carry with us for the rest of our lives. You will always be spoken of with respect, love and deep gratitude in our home.
Your health and wellbeing physically, emotionally, mentally are incredibly important to us. We will do everything we can to ensure you feel safe, heard and supported throughout the journey. That means open, honest communication, zero pressure and making sure that you feel genuinely cared for, not just because of what you’re doing for us, but because of who you are.
We’re not expecting perfection or a fairy tale. We know there may be moments that are emotional or uncertain, and that’s okay. What matters most to us is showing up with empathy, humour, and heart, staying open, talking through things honestly, and being there for each other, however that looks.
This path to parenthood has been one we’ve dreamed of for a long time. We imagine lazy weekend mornings, walks by the ocean, reading bedtime stories, and building the kind of family where love, curiosity, and connection are at the centre of everything. Our home is already filled with laughter and care, we’re just waiting for that final piece.
One of us works closely with young people who have faced huge challenges in their lives, and it’s taught us so much about empathy, resilience, and the importance of emotional safety. These aren’t just values we talk about; they’re ones we live every day and we’ll bring them into this experience with you as well.
We also know that you have your own reasons for choosing to be a surrogate. Whatever the reasons, we respect them deeply. This isn’t just about helping us; it’s about your story too and we want to honour that in every step we take together.
Above all else, we want you to know you’re not alone. We will be there with you, for the milestones, the quiet moments, the check-ins and everything in between. We’ll walk beside you, not behind or in front, because this is something we’re doing together. We’ll carry this experience and your kindness, with us for the rest of our lives.
