Two individuals sharing the common intuition that there was more to life than what was in store for us.
A respected lawyer, a film director. A well-organized, down-to-earth personality, an adventurous, creative, doing our best, day after day, “in joy and in pain”.
The first question I, Manuel, asked Julien when we met was if he liked travelling and if he wanted to have children. Julien replied yea sure, as he wanted me in his bed. Little did he know that we were to form a bond, share a life together, marry and move mountains together.
I was raised in a large family with 9 adopted children in 3 generations, and I thought that would be my chance as well to become the father I always wanted to become. However, it proved not to be an easy process as a gay person in France.
As for me, Julien, having grown up in a divorced parents’ family, I struggled for many years with the concern of not being able to be the good father figure I missed during my childhood.
Someday, I came to realize that I was already a committed doting father. Loving unconditionally, with no shortage of Love.
Our first surrogacy journey has been such an unpredictable adventure. We’ve inevitably had our ups and downs and learned we had to embrace it all.
NOTHING HAPPENED THE WAY WE IMAGINED IT. That’s why we are making the choice to keep an open mind to the many possibilities you might wish to bring us. This is not Kijiji.ca for us.
For instance, we were told it was better if we kept a certain distance from our son’s much beloved surrogate mother C.
However, there was no doubt among the 3 of us that we would be present at the first (and incidentally only) transfer because we felt it was such a big deal. We obviously respected her need for space as we trusted her every step of the journey; she certainly knew how to take care of a kid, since she already had 3 of her own.
Guess what? The day our son came into our lives, it created such a bond that not a month goes by without some contact one way or another. We travel to Canada every year and will do so with all our children in the future to keep in touch.
We now all go on a family trip camping at Valens Lake, skiing at Blue Mountain or on an escapade at Niagara Falls… Whatever the plan, our son (who believes he speaks French with a Canadian accent) is always off to great places.
THIS ADVENTURE WITH YOU IS A NEW CHAPTER, THAT’S WHY IT’S EXCITING!

We always wanted to have 2 children and feel that Timothée deserves a brother or a sister he could rely on, just like we were given the chance.
How much would you like to get involved with our new son or daughter? It is up to you where to place the cursor.
What’s certain is that we want to share our Canadian and European backgrounds with our children. We plan on raising all of them bilingually – as fully Canadian and French. We consider it very important that our children cherish their roots, whatever their background – your background –may be.
Julien and I want the very same thing all parents want for their children: for them to have the best life, to be there to love and support them, to help them become good people with a purposeful life.
