We met in kindergarten and our moms became fast friends. After approximately two decades of leading separate lives (while our parents remained friends and sisters became best friends), we were reintroduced as adults and fell in love immediately. We got married during the pandemic. We both grew up in loving homes with incredible parents and dreamed of starting our own family. When Jordy was in middle school, her mom went through a difficult breast cancer journey. Jordy, who was also diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene, was determined not to pass it on to the next generation. We did two rounds of IVF almost immediately after getting married. After our first embryo transfer, we were pregnant for almost 3 months. We were over the moon. We even bought a house to have more space for when our baby would arrive. We chose names, started buying maternity clothes, and prepared ourselves for this exciting next chapter. Unfortunately, we had a miscarriage. It was heartbreaking and difficult, but only made us love each other more. As soon as we could, we did another transfer. It failed. Then another, and that one failed too. Jordy’s Type 1 diabetes was extremely challenging to manage during each of these periods. Tight diabetic control is vital to prevent any brain defects or malformations in the fetus, which is an added layer of stress for the pregnancy. Our unsuccessful fertility journey to date leads us to surrogacy – an idea we always held on to should our pregnancy efforts fail. We believe there is something beautiful about having a surrogate bring our future child into the world. We would be ecstatic and eternally grateful to you if you could help us realize our dream of becoming parents.

We also both come from large families who cannot wait to love our future child. Our baby will be born into a very happy and nurturing home. 🙂
