👋Hi there — and thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little.

We’re Pol and Balázs, a married gay couple in our thirties, originally from Spain and Hungary, now living in Germany (let’s say we met halfway 😉). Since 2023, our small family has also included Copito (or “small flake” in English), our little fluffy Maltese dog, whom we adopted from a neighbor. He’s playful, a bit cheeky, and the heart of our home.

🌟The beginnings
Our story together began back in 2017, when we met in a bar dancing on a Saturday night. One of the very first things Balázs asked Pol was, “Do you want to be a father one day?” — quite a bold question for a first conversation! But it turned out to be a defining moment for us: we both realized that having a family and becoming parents was a dream we deeply shared. We were aware it wouldn’t be an easy path for us, but we knew we wanted to make it happen together.

👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨In 2022, in Budapest (Hungary), surrounded by our families and friends, we celebrated our wedding — a truly magical and emotional day that reflected our story and the mix of our cultures (you can see some of the photos in our lookbook!).

Since then, our wish to build a family has only grown stronger. We started exploring adoption, a journey that taught us much about patience, openness, and unconditional acceptance. We learned how important it is to embrace a new family member with all the unknowns, to understand their story and background, and to stay flexible for whatever life brings. Especially important for us is to nurture the best possible relationship with the people who brought that child to life. Although the adoption path was not meant to be for us, we take all we learnt, and we are very excited about starting our surrogacy journey, which feels like the next chapter in our story — hoping we can make our dream come true.

👬 Who we are
Pol was born and raised in Barcelona. He works in controlling by day, and as a side job he plants trees in grey city areas. Despite the distance, he is very close to his family and friends back home. Pol is also practicing meditation/mindfulness regularly, both at home and occasionally at retreats.
Balázs was born in the Hungarian countryside and grew up with two brothers, although he spent most of his life in the capital city, Budapest, where he feels at home too. He now works in finance and enjoys his time at the gym. He used to take part in ballroom dance competitions.

We both love traveling and discovering new cultures, although we also enjoy our cozy “quiet time” at home. Pol lived in Japan and Australia in his twenties, and for our honeymoon we spent three weeks backpacking in Peru.

Our home is a little “Babel tower”: between us and our friends, we switch between five languages daily. Sometimes it’s a bit exhausting, but mostly it’s exciting and enriching (although we are afraid to confuse Copito a little sometimes 😉).

🍓🌳Our Values and Lifestyle
Although we currently live abroad, family is everything to us. We travel often between Germany, Spain, and Hungary to stay close to our parents and siblings and close friends. Our mid-term plan is to move to Barcelona to be nearer to our loved ones (and to the Mediterranean sun 🌞).

Many of our friends already have children, and spending time with them gives us so much joy. We love watching our friends’ kids grow, teaching them a few words in our languages, and dreaming about the day we’ll do the same with our own child.

We try to live consciously and sustainably. Over the years, we’ve moved from eating everything, to almost vegan, and now we’d call ourselves flexitarian. This journey made us much more aware of what we consume and how we live — something we’d love to pass on to our future child. Our motto is a simple yet fulfilling life.

At the heart of everything, we simply have this immense wish: to love, guide, and care for a little person, to grow and learn together as a family, and to create countless happy memories — shared with our families, friends, and, of course, Copito 🐶
