Meet Reem & Bassel

We’re Reem and Bassel, and we’ve been together for nearly 8 wonderful years. Early in our relationship, Reem was diagnosed with stage 1 ovarian cancer. While this brought unexpected challenges—including the inability to conceive, it also brought us closer together. We supported each other deeply throughout her treatment and recovery, which she overcame fully both physically and emotionally just a few months later. That experience strengthened our bond and reaffirmed our love and commitment. Five years ago, we got married and began dreaming of building our family.

Our journey led us to explore surrogacy. From the beginning, we learned about the emotional, psychological, and medical aspects of the process. We connected with CFC, who offered us incredible insight, and later partnered with Create Fertility Clinic, who guided us through the medical process and helped ease our concerns. After completing all the necessary tests and assessments, we moved forward and created embryos. We were fortunate to be matched with a kind-hearted, healthy, egg donor who shared our dream. Her stimulation cycle was successful, and we were thrilled to end up with six healthy, PGS-tested embryos ready for transfer. Dr. Librach and the clinic team were optimistic, telling us we had a strong chance of success with a surrogate.

We were then matched with a truly wonderful surrogate, warm, sweet, and supportive who made the entire journey beautiful and smooth. Although she lived in Edmonton, we stayed connected through regular video calls and were part of her medical appointments. Weekly check-ins allowed us to stay close and ensure everything was progressing well. In June 2023, she gave birth to our beautiful daughter, Talia. We were overjoyed. Our bond with our surrogate remained strong. She even offered to help us with a sibling journey shortly after Talia’s birth. Although our plans were put on hold when she decided to take a year off for school, we were genuinely happy for her. During that time, she met the love of her life and is now pregnant with her third child. We’re thrilled to see her growing her family with happiness and love.

Now, with Talia turning two, we are ready and excited to embark on our sibling journey. We are sincerely hoping to match with a kind-hearted, responsible, honest, and easy-going surrogate. Someone we can truly connect with, who shares our values, and who we can support wholeheartedly throughout the process. We deeply respect the role a surrogate plays in making dreams come true and hope for open, consistent communication, while always respecting her space and privacy.

As a couple, we’re friendly, easygoing, and open-minded, and we believe strong relationships are built on trust, honesty, and communication. We both come from family-oriented backgrounds where love, support, and shared experiences are everything. We enjoy get-togethers with friends, barbeques by the beach, and cozy winter evenings watching comedies or romantic movies by the fireplace. We love water parks, swimming, exploring different cuisines (Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian), and traveling to discover new cultures and places. Our most recent trip was to Ayia Napa, Cyprus, a beautiful island where we made unforgettable memories with Talia, who had just started walking.

We dream of giving Talia a sibling to grow up with and share life’s adventures. We imagine family moments filled with love, laughter, and joy, watching our children grow, play, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
