Meet Zachary & Nishka

Our dream of becoming Dad and Mom is filled with images of holding our baby for the first time, feeling an overwhelming sense of love and joy. We can’t wait to see the first smile, the first steps, and all the precious moments that come with raising a child. We are grateful for our loving, and persevering families that have taught us strong values and helped us build meaningful careers, lasting friendships, and a love for nature and travel. We look forward to sharing all of this with our children and creating lasting memories and hopefully being strong role models for them.

We have been together for 10 years and known each other for 17, since we met in University as fresh-eyed eager engineering students. We got married in 2022 and have always dreamed of having children. Now, it feels more real than ever, and we are READY. Our clinic and the CFC have been incredibly supportive and we have healthy embryos ready for transfer. We also have a great team of people to help us on this journey. We know that we have a stable and strong foundation for our child. Our love for each other has only grown over the years, and we are excited to share that love with our future child.

This child will be surrounded by love, from our family, friends, and community. Both sets of intended grandparents live in Calgary and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild. They are ready to shower them with love and support. We are also very lucky to have a big network of close friends in Calgary, who have been with us since our high school and university days. We can count on them for support and fun.

We love to travel and explore new places, whether it’s to exotic destinations like Argentina, where we got engaged, or Japan, where we had an incredible cultural experience and the best ski trip of our lives. We also love to explore the mountains with our beautiful dog Sookie on hiking, backpacking, and camping trips. When we have a child, we will be so excited to create new traditions and share our favorite holiday memories with them.

Our favorite movies/TV shows are ones that show people overcoming challenges despite the odds. We recently watched Atypical together, a coming-of-age drama that is centered around an atypical teen and their whole family on a path of self-discovery. Our sense of humor is light-hearted and we love to laugh together.

We speak English (Zac and Nishka) and Hindi (Nishka) and have picked up enough Spanish to get by during our many travels. We want to raise our child with curiosity and a penchant for learning about the world and its many wonders!

When our baby is born, Nishka will stay home during the early months to provide full-time care. Zac runs his community business from home and has the flexibility we will need when we have a little one in our lives. We also have supportive parents who are eager and able to help, and can hire help as needed. We want to ensure our child has a loving and nurturing environment.

We eventually hope to have two children, and due to certain health complications are hopeful (no strings attached, of course!) to have a Surrogate carrying our children.

We imagine our relationship with our Surrogate as a bond built on trust, respect, and mutual understanding. We see ourselves as a team, working together to bring a new life into the world. We hope to share this journey with our surrogate with open communication and heartfelt gratitude for her for giving us this incredible dream.

After the birth of our child, we hope to stay in touch with our surrogate, and that means regular updates, visits, and sharing milestones. We would love to maintain a connection with our surrogate and include them in our child’s life in a meaningful way. Would you be up for that?

The things that we are anxious about when it comes to surrogacy are the unknowns and uncertainties. However, we are committed to facing any challenges with resilience and positivity, knowing that the end result will be worth it.
