A Letter to Our Surrogate

We are Pan and JC.

JC is Belgian originally and Pan is Chinese. But we both have the Canadian Citizenship now. We met each other in Ottawa and we have been happily together for almost 3 years. Time flies but we managed to create many good memories. We like hiking and kayaking during the summer and staying cozy at home cooking when it is cold outside. We found we are a good match because we both like quiet but meaningful life. JC likes cooking (he makes the best cheese cake), knitting and he always keeps things well organized. Pan likes reading, play sports and also enjoys JC’s homemade cake. Pan also cooks well; look at the wontons we made.

Since we’ve been together, we talk a lot about family, we found out that we both love kids and were eager to build our own family full of happiness and love. JC tried the adoption journey but despite being adopt ready, it wasn’t conclusive. So when Pan suggested to have a child through surrogacy, JC was immediately onboard, JC even bought a baby book for Pan’s last birthday and we started to read it together.

We have been searching for a nice person who can help us achieve our dream of creating a family for a while.

We hope to build a friendship and with your help start a family !

Letter to our baby:

Dear Baby,

As we both sit here, writing this letter to you, our hearts are filling with love and gratefulness. You aren’t here with us yet, but you have already filled our lives with so much joy and anticipation. We want you to know how deeply loved you are and always will be.

From the moment we decided to bring you into this world, we knew our lives would be forever changed. The journey to you has been one of love, hope, and unwavering commitment. We have dreamed of holding you in our arms, looking into your eyes, and telling you how much you mean to us.

We want you to know that you are coming into a world where you will be cherished beyond measure. Your Papa and Baba have already started preparing for your arrival. Papa JC is excited by holding you in his arms and knitting hats & sweaters for you. Baba Pan will cook for you & read you stories at bedtime.

You will also receive care from your grandparents, Aunt Saebyul & Aunt Bénédicte, Uncle Benoit & Uncle Aaron, and all our friends. They can’t wait to help you with all the firsts in your life.

We promise to provide you with a home filled with love, laughs, and acceptance. We will do our best to give you the opportunities to discover the world. We will teach you to be kind, brave, and to love with all your heart.

As your dads, we understand that there will be times when you might face questions or challenges because of our family structure. Know that our love for you is steadfast and strong. We will always stand by your side, ready to face the world together. Our family might be different, but it is built on a foundation of love that is as deep and real as any other.

We can’t wait to share our lives with you, to watch you grow, to hear you laugh, and to wipe away your tears. Every moment we will spend together will be a treasure. You are our miracle, our dream come true, and we are so grateful for the privilege of being your parents.
