Meet Alexis & Mathieu
Location: Montréal, Quebec
We are Mathieu and Alexis, and we’ve been together for the last 14 years. Raising a family has always been our dream. When we met, Alexis was finishing university, and Mathieu, having just graduated as a pharmacist, was embarking on a new journey into medicine. It wasn’t easy—Alexis supported Mathieu through many study dates during that first year. Then Mathieu moved from Montreal to Quebec City for five years. We visited each other every other week and spent every holiday together. After Mathieu’s residency, he moved to Cincinnati for two years to become a pediatric Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeon. Alexis visited more than 40 times during those two years.
One night, after Alexis arrived late, Mathieu popped the question. Just like in the movies, there was a singer with a guitar, a clear, starry sky, pictures of us everywhere, champagne, and a marvelous ring. We waited for Mathieu to return to Montreal to announce the date, but like everyone, COVID changed our plans. That’s when we decided to pursue our dream of having a child or children with the help of a surrogate.
We love to travel and have visited almost every corner of the States, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, and the Middle East. While going out is fun, we often prefer staying in and cooking a delicious meal. Alexis, being a TV producer of cooking shows, always has plenty of recipes for us to try! Both of our parents are still with us. Alexis’ dad is retired from the government, and his mom is a TV producer at the same company as Alexis. Mathieu’s dad, a former mine worker, now operates his own sugar shack, and his mom is a school teacher. We recently bought a cabin next to Mathieu’s family as our pandemic splurge.
We are now ready to expand our family and can’t wait to start this journey with you!
