Meet Jurriaan & Paul

We are Paul and Jurriaan. We are a gay couple and together for eight years. You can describe our relationship as stable, caring and loving. We love to do things together, especially during the weekends! However, we can also respect each other’s own space which helps to have a balanced relationship.

We live in the city of The Hague in The Netherlands which is close to Amsterdam. The Hague houses the Dutch Royal family, has a rich history and offers many cultural activities. It would be great if one day you would have the opportunity to come and visit us. Paul can ́t wait to give you a tour through the city as he has extensive knowledge about the history of this beautiful city.

Another great feature is that The Hague is situated right next to the sea. From our child-friendly neighborhood it ́s only a 5 minutes’ bike ride to the beach. We picture ourselves building sandcastles with our child and have our very first swim in the sea together!

Our social lives are very important to us. At least several times a week we meet with family and friends. For lunch, an activity or just a hug. We love hugging! They fully support us in our process of becoming dads which is lately more and more an important topic during our lively dinners.

We cannot wait to share our passion for travelling with our child and to enlarge his/her view on the world. It would be lovely to take a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower, one of our favorite spots we have visited during our trips. We think it ́s important that our child will meet different cultures and its people, respect other religions and experience the beauty of this planet.

Jurriaan is working as a head of operations in finance. He knows, this sounds quite boring, but in real life it is a very lively job! Paul is working as manager events in a well-known museum. It is quite a special place. We both have much passion for our professions and we aim to get the best out of ourselves both professionally as personally. We want to stimulate our child to believe in him/herself and that dreams can come true. We believe it ́s important to follow your heart and discover what makes you tick, what passion you have and at the end what makes you happy.

Jurriaan really likes to do sports and can ́t live without it. It ́s a way to stay healthy, feel energetic and meet with friends. He cannot wait to introduce our child to the variety of sports that is offered. He will make sure the child will find the sports he/she feels comfortable with!

Besides sports Jurriaan loves to cook and try out new things. His food is very much appreciated by friends, family, but especially by Paul :). And Paul loves to bake cakes which often is a perfect end of a dinner. He has learned the finesse from his mother when he was young. Paul can imagine baking some cookies with our child and pass on his skills. Paul is buddy of a young person with the Down syndrome. Together with his friends, his biggest dream was to play in a musical in a real theatre. So, together with some friends, Paul started a foundation to promote cultural activities for young people with special needs.

The both of us always knew that we wanted to become a dad ourselves. We love our nieces and children of friends. Our family and friends know how much we care about children. At this moment we are the guardians of six of their children. And now the time has come for us to become dads of our own. So, we started our journey examining which possibilities there were for us. And there we are. Hoping that you would like to be part of our little wonder!
