A Letter to Our Future Surrogate

We are Gautier and Hugo, two hopeful dads living in Montreal. We actually started talking about children very quickly in our relationship, as we were in the same place in our lives and looking for the same things. Everything between us has been so easy and natural; since the beginning, we could talk for hours or enjoy the silence of just being together.

Our families are very supportive of us. We love spending time with them. For Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and every birthday we gather and celebrate with family and friends. As Gautier’s family is in France, we spend Christmas time with Gautier’s family every two years! We also like to make every achievement a celebration! We really want to share these traditions and our families’ values with our children. We believe that values should be shown and taught to children, such as love, compassion, tolerance, patience and forgiveness.

We love spending time with our friends and family, organizing dinner parties, playing board games, engaging in outdoor activities (hiking, diving, skiing, etc.), watching movies and TV shows, and traveling around the world, always eager to discover new things! We are very curious in general!

We hope to find a surrogate who will be easy to talk to, compassionate, honest about her feelings and fears with us, and empathetic to our feelings as well. We look forward to having a relationship with a surrogate based on mutual trust, respect, and the ability to communicate freely.

Our surrogate will be the most important part of our journey to becoming parents, and we know that the most precious gift in the world she is going to offer us. We are excited to be part of the most important moments of the journey and create a bond that could last, if she would like, even after the delivery. We would like to share key moments of the pregnancy with our surrogate. As we live in Montreal, we’ll be able to travel easily across Canada. Also, we’d like to have video calls. No matter our choices, we will always take into consideration how our surrogate feels to make her comfortable. The key to our future relationship is communication.
