Meet Henny & Felix

We are Felix and Henny, a German and Canadian/American couple who have been overjoyed with parenthood since our daughter joined us a few years ago through surrogacy. The three of us love being active outdoors and hanging out with our local network of friends, family, and neighbours.
Our journey together began 12 years ago: We first met while working in Paris, but after a few years of dating, we moved (returned, in Henny’s case) to Vancouver in 2016. We knew early on that we wanted to grow our family, and so soon after getting married, we started exploring various paths to do so, including adoption and co-parenting.
We had the most luck when we connected with a surrogate. She, her husband, and two boys are now like extended family to us, and we still cherish the bonds we have formed, despite the distance from our homes. Their gift to us has been, without any exaggeration, life changing, wondrous, incredible. Every morning, when we hear that little voice chatting away to herself, we go into our kid’s room to start the day with deep gratitude for the kindness of others.
Because our little one is now a toddler, we have been reflecting on the specialness of having someone else in the family who is also growing up at the same time. We each have a brother (and in Felix’s case, many first cousins), and so we know what it is like to have someone who has been there for the highs and lows of being a kid, and who understands why it is sometimes necessary to roll your eyes at your parents. We would love that gift for our daughter.
Our previous surrogate would have also loved to help once again, but she has an upcoming medical procedure (unrelated to surrogacy) that prevents us from moving forward together. We are here now to begin a new journey, and we would love to welcome a new surrogate and family into our extended circle.
We want to end this letter by expressing our gratitude to all who make our little family possible, and we remain in awe of everyone who considers offering this gift to intended parents. We look very much forward to meeting you.
