Dear Surro-hero,
As we sit down to write this letter, our hearts are full of hope, love, and an indescribable longing to start a family. My name is Stacy, and my husband is Andrew. We are two individuals who were brought together by fate, and our love story has been nothing short of magical.
Andrew and I have been each other’s high school sweethearts for over 16 years. We have been through thick and thin together, and we have always believed that we are each other’s soulmates. We have been married for almost 10 years now, and throughout our marriage, we have stood by each other’s side on good days and even closer on bad days.
We always dreamed of starting a family together, and when we turned 30, we thought it was finally time to make our dream come true. However, fate had other plans for us. Just one month before my 30th birthday, I was diagnosed with breast cancer… Our world was turned upside down, and we felt like we were in a nightmare that we couldn’t wake up from.
But as we went through the grueling treatment process, we realized that we had to fight, not just for ourselves but for the family that we have always dreamed of having. We went through fertility preservation (4 tested embryos), surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and targeted therapy, and finally, in June 2020, my active treatments were completed. We were overjoyed to hear that I was cancer-free, but our joy was short-lived when we realized that the hormone therapy I was about to receive could last 15-20 years, meaning that I am not suitable to conceive or carry our own baby.
We are reaching out to you today with the deepest hope that you can be the surro-hero that helps us make our dream come true. Our hearts yearn for a child of our own, and we believe that you can help make this happen. We promise to provide the best for our child as we know that they will be loved by so many people. Andrew’s mother has been a paediatrician for over 30 years, and my mother has given birth to four children and has always helped take care of her newborn grandchildren. Both of our parents are eager to provide as much help as needed, and I plan to stay home for at least 15 months to care for our baby.
We hope that you will feel our deepest sincerity, and we would be eternally grateful if you could help us build a family that is founded on love, kindness, and compassion. We believe that together, we can make the impossible possible and create a life-changing miracle.

And when it comes to tools, be prepared for a masterclass in handling screwdrivers and building things together – because your dad believes in the magic of creating with your own two hands.
