Meet Jandark & Christopher

My name is Jandark Cvetkovski and my husband’s name is Christopher Cvetkovski. I grew up in Spain and after 12 years my family and I migrated to Canada to be closer to the rest of our family and provide us with a better future.
My husband and I met while in school. We were in the same program, but never knew each other. We finally met each other five years later when we were both teaching assistants and we have been by each other’s side through thick and thin. After a couple of months of dating, I contracted a virus that would change our lives forever.
The virus attacked my heart and as a result, I needed an emergency heart and kidney transplant. As I had no history of medical issues nor my family, it was very shocking what a virus could do to someone that was healthy. I lost conscience in the emergency room and when waking up in the hospital and found out what had happened to me, I knew my life would be much different. To my shock, I was told that during the period previous to the organ transplants, my left leg did not have enough blood circulation and they had to amputate it. After recuperating from the surgery, I had to re-learn how to walk and do everyday things. I wanted my life to go back to normal and didn’t want anything to change my plans in life. I completed my Master’s degree and soon after I got a job.
My husband and I have always wanted children and even talked about it since our first months of dating. After learning more about the complications that could occur and the medications that I would be taking for the transplants, we began to learn that carrying a child was not possible for me anymore. As we both knew that becoming parents is our calling in life, we decided to do gestational surrogacy. We were so happy to learn that we could still live our dream with the help of someone who will become one of the most important people in our lives.
That’s how our daughter was born, through the amazing help and care of our previous surrogate. We loved meeting her and specially her sweet kids who helped us appreciate even more the blessings of being a parent. We communicated often and one of our priorities was to make sure she and her family were happy with the journey we were all embarking together. We loved hanging out together having fun shopping, getting coffee, talking and planning about how exciting life was about to get. One of our favorite times was during Christmas when we would see pictures of how much fun and how excited the kids were to open all the presents. We also got to experience the gender reveal of our daughter together which was such a happy and exciting time and were so thankful that we could celebrate together. We were always by each other’s side providing love and support.
Experiencing being a parent for the first time was nothing short of amazing. It truly brought an immense amount of love and excitement for life. Raising our precious daughter is the greatest blessing that has happened to us. We would love nothing more than to continue growing our family and provide a sibling to our daughter. Both, my husband and I have wonderful families that show us so much love and support and we would love our kids to grow up with the support system we were so blessed to have. Life has its ups and downs and being positive throughout it all has helped us be the people we are now. We are much stronger and appreciative of the little things in life.
We want our Surrogate to know that what she is giving us is a gift that will forever be remembered and treasured. She would be an extension of our family as she is giving us the biggest treasure that we could ever ask for.
