Meet Ashley & Jaime

Hi there! We are Ashley and Jamie. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us and all the love we have to share with a child!

We were both born and raised in Regina, SK and moved out to Calgary in 2006. We didn’t meet until we both moved to Calgary from mutual friends and have been together (16 years and counting).

Ashley has been working for Alberta Health Services for 8 years as an Advisor in Human Resources and she also manages a commercial real-estate property. Jamie has been a bricklayer for the last 17 years and travels frequently through Western Canada on jobs. Ashley and Jamie are also very involved in the community as well and active members for the Images of Hope Gala Committee for the Regional Fertility Clinic in Calgary. The Images of Hope is an annual fundraiser that raises funds for those who can’t afford fertility treatments in Alberta.

At an early age, Ashley was diagnosed with MRHK (absent uterus), so surrogacy was always going to be part of our journey in building a family. Both of us had always known we wanted to have a family, so shortly after our wedding we began the process of surrogacy and IVF treatments. We have been on this journey for the last 6 years, and through many IVF attempts and miscarriages, we just recently decided to use donor eggs with PGTA testing. After all the heartbreak of IVF we are starting to feel more confident in our chances of becoming parents. After years of uncertainty this new journey finally feels as though it’s a real possibility.

We have been through many ups and downs on this path, but even so, we still continue to remain hopeful because sometimes, hope is all you have. Going through this journey so far, we have learned so much. We believe that a strong relationship with our surrogate, open and positive communication, and sharing experiences together are important as we go down this road together. We fully understand all that this entails and the incredible gift that she would be giving us, and we want to support her in any way we can. We have never once taken this act of selflessness of becoming a surrogate for granted, and we still remain close to our previous surrogates today. Our doctor and embryologist truly believe this is our time and despite much heartache, we hold onto that belief too. We know we are meant to be parents and we feel that our dream is finally within reach, and we absolutely cannot wait to meet the woman who will give us the greatest gift we could ever ask for in this life.
