Yesterday Angie, and I met up in Toronto for an afternoon that we were both very excited about, but both for different reasons, very nervous about. We were going to take part in http://4thtrimesterbodies.com/ . They are an amazing organization that are on a Worldwide tour “dedicated to embracing the beauty inherent in the changes ”brought to our bodies by motherhood, childbirth and breastfeeding.
I had been mentally preparing myself for the photo shoot for a few days, and what “bearing it all” would mean. What I couldn’t prepare for was the video I was a part of. I didn’t know what questions I’d be asked, until that moment. The first few were easy, name, where you live, number of kids…..
Then the tough part- Being asked what you want to share about your birth experiences, and why you took part in this project was really tough!! It hit me like a ton of bricks, literally. I felt like I had been throat punched, the wind taken out of me. Why? Well for the next few minutes, I stumbled through my birth philosophy, my experiences as a Birth Mom, a Mom Mom, and a Surrogate Mom, I shared what a blessing all of those “titles” were, and how I regret nothing from my births, and used each one as a learning experience for the next.
It was a funny feeling at the end of the interview, as I wasn’t sure if my answers were “right”. It was in that moment that I realized, it wasn’t about them being right, rather about my sharing them. Not sharing them for others to learn about my greatness, but for me to learn about my greatness.
As I write this, I feel myself rambling as I did, during my interview, however want everyone to know that working with http://4thtrimesterbodies.com/ was an amazing experience, in which I learned so very much about myself as a woman, and Mom.
I’m not sure what Angie’s experience was, as I took her little one Cyrus for a walk while she did her interview. I wanted to allow her the space to talk, without eyes on her, as she did for me.
I hope that you visit this site, and if you are so inclined, book a session with them. It was this video that sold me on these amazing women!!!
